Rash Purnima 2023
Rash Purnima 2023:Â Rash Purnima, also known as Kojagari Purnima or Sharad Purnima, is a Hindu festival celebrated on the full moon day in the Hindu lunar month of Ashvin (usually in October). The festival is primarily celebrated in the Indian states of West Bengal, Odisha, and parts of Bihar and Assam.
Rash Purnima is celebrated as the night when Lord Krishna played Raas Leela (a divine dance) with Radha and the gopis (cowherd girls) in Vrindavan. The festival is also associated with the legend of Goddess Lakshmi, who is believed to have descended to earth on this day to bestow wealth and prosperity upon her devotees.
On this day, people celebrate by worshipping Lord Krishna and Goddess Lakshmi and observing a fast. It is believed that if one keeps a vigil on the night of Rash Purnima and offers milk and other food to the moon, they will be blessed with good fortune, prosperity, and happiness. Additionally, people prepare and eat a special dessert called “kheer,” made from milk, rice, and sugar, and engage in cultural activities like singing and dancing.
